Angus Laing:I’m Angus Laing, dean of Lancaster University Medical School I've had the privilege of being the dean of the school for nearly four years. It's one of the top business schools in the UK and indeed, internationally, we have more than two hundred seventies academic staff. We've got five and a half thousand students. We have more than 55,000 alumni around the world who influence business and society extensively.

记者:随着亚欧互联互通的进一步推进,您认为这将给商学院教育带来那些变化?

Angus Laing: I think we need to go back to David Ricardo and the 19 century and his arguments surround competitive advantage to recognize the importance of all international trade and how much International Trade has transformed the economic fortunes of countries around the world we saw that in the 19th century we've seen it recently with the development of Chinese economy which is being very very heavily based on international trade and we know confronting interesting times and that many populist politicians are questioning the role of a special trade seeing as a challenge to their economies and seeking various forms of protectionism yet we know protectionism is damaging damaging to economies initiatives that are focused on trying to link Asia and Europe Western Europe and China perhaps in particular, are going to be absolutely central to the future shape of global trade. And it's necessary that all of us who have an interest in or are willing to promote the advantages of trade in the face of politicians who who may seek to restrict that trade I think it's also important that we recognize the importance of a rule-based system of international trade. We saw in the nineteenth century, china in particular experienced effect the nineteenth century of a non rules based system where power drove behaviors and china suffered compared at the hands of countries like Britain, France, um, because they exercised power. I think it's incumbent on all the major economic powers the world today to handle international trade in a way that doesn't just develop their own economies, but actually supports the development of economies around the world and connecting Asia and Europe, particularly by rails through central Asia, provide huge development opportunities for those countries.

记者:第二个问题,墓地守夜人发展商学院教育与推动亚欧互联互通之间是否存在良性的双向关系,您为什么这样认为?

Angus Laing:We can foster deep and meaningful links between countries. Because when students move, whether it's Chinese students studying in Europe, increasingly European students studying in china, It's the opportunIty for them to be exposed to different different cultures. Look at the world, think about the world in a very in a very, very different way. So at one level it's not what we teach them that matters but it's the fact that we create a space for them to meet share ideas and get to understand each other and once we've done that we created a space then it's don't we teach them and then we come back and fly.

We promote the concept of comparative advantage that david ricardo and economists on international trade specialist subsequently have promoted. So it's really thinking through creating a cultural connection and then generating an understanding of the importance of international trade.

记者:Thanks for being with us.

Angus Laing:Oh, my pleasure.
